Expand, preserve, and inspire

Help transform the historic Bastrop Opera House and build the annex into rehearsal, classroom, and community space for the next 100 years.

Donate now

We’ve always made magic in our historic space — but now, it’s time to grow. Our newly acquired building next door gives us the chance to expand our mission and deepen our roots in downtown Bastrop. But we can’t do it without your help.

More room,
more art,
more impact

WHY IT MATTERS
Group of children and teenagers standing in a large circle in a hall, with some sitting at tables around the room and a patchwork quilt hanging on the wall in the background.

Room to Grow

More dedicated space means more opportunities — for youth programming, mainstage rehearsals, and community workshops. This expansion gives artists of all ages the room they need to create, learn, and thrive.

The image shows the exterior of a colorful building with a sign that reads "Bastrop Opera House" and another sign advertising "Fiddler on the Roof" coming soon. The building has yellow walls with blue accents, large arched windows, and brown double doors. There are classic street lamps along the sidewalk.

Historic preservation & safety

With upgraded HVAC, fire suppression, and ADA access, we’ll honor the history of this building while making it safer and more functional for everyone.

Bastrop Boost

An expanded Opera House means more shows, more visitors, and more reasons for folks to explore downtown — boosting local businesses and tourism.

A space full of history — and possibility

THE CURRENT STATE

Our newly acquired building holds a century of stories within its walls — and just as many structural challenges. From peeling paint and exposed ceilings to outdated systems and inaccessible spaces, the need for restoration is clear. But so is the potential. With your help, this historic space can be transformed into something truly extraordinary.

Reimagining the future of the Opera House

We’re not just restoring a building — we’re building the future of the performing arts in Bastrop. Our vision includes a flexible rehearsal hall, expanded space for youth programming, and a black box theater designed for intimate performances, workshops, and community events.

These renderings offer a first glimpse of what’s possible. With your support, this dream becomes Our Next Act.

  • “The Bastrop Opera House class was such a fantastic experience. It helped my daughter hone her skills and boost her confidence. She’s now more creative, flexible in her imagination, and expressive in her thoughts and communication. I could go on and on about how much theatre has benefitted her.”

Our capital campaign isn’t just about restoring walls — it’s about expanding possibilities. With more space for classes and rehearsals, we’ll be able to serve more youth, host more workshops, and nurture the next generation of performers and creators.
