About The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)
Directed by Oscar Gutierrez
Performance Dates: October 9-25
Auditions: July 18 1:00 pm -2:30 pm
Group call back: July 18 2:30-4:00 pm
Three actors. Thirty-seven plays. One very ambitious evening. This beloved comedy follows a trio of performers attempting to race through the entire works of Shakespeare in a single show — and things go sideways almost immediately. Expect sword fights, surprise audience participation, a Hamlet that gets performed more than once, and enough theatrical mayhem to make the Bard himself crack a smile.
Audition Format
Please prepare a 1-minute comedic monologue of your choice. We want to see your comedic timing, personality, and ability to tell a story. The monologue does not need to be Shakespeare.
Plan to attend our group callback immediately following the final audition time slot on Saturday, July 18 (approximately 2:30–4:00 PM). During this time, everyone will have the opportunity to read scenes (sides) together, allowing the directing team to see different actor combinations and interactions.
If your audition concludes before 2:30 PM, you're welcome to leave for a while and return in time for the group callback. We simply ask that everyone be back and ready to begin by 2:30 PM.
Roles
JESS
The self-appointed Shakespeare scholar of the group. Jess takes the text (and themselves) very seriously, often acting as the dedicated "bad actor" of the trio during the Hamlet finale.
ADAM
The eccentric, high-energy rebel of the group. Adam is responsible for playing almost all of Shakespeare's female characters and is famous for carrying the show's raucous humor.
DANIEL
The anchor of the group. Enthusiastic, competent, and usually the one tasked with opening the play, keeping the frantic pacing on track, and calming down his co-stars.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals begin Monday, August 31st
Monday through Thursday evenings
